Youth Art Month is an annual observance each March to emphasize the value of art and art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs. The Newport Art Museum’s Regional Youth Art Month Exhibition proudly showcases K-8 student work from Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth, Jamestown, Tiverton and Little Compton at the Coleman Center Gallery, providing a youthful opportunity for community members to meet, connect, and celebrate art making for all ages.
The Youth Art Month exhibition draws parents, siblings, friends and art teachers together from around the region supporting youth art. It is a nationally recognized forum for acknowledging the skills nurtured through art experiences that are not always possible through other curriculum subjects.
Emphasis on the value of art education for all children, encouraging support for quality school art programs, and promoting art material safety are values that directly align with the education component of the Newport Art Museum's mission.
The public is invited : celebrate the show at the opening reception on Newport Gallery Night!
