Newport Art Museum Awarded $21,468 RISCA Grant
(Newport, RI - July 28, 2016) - Newport Art Museum was awarded a $21,468 grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) as it announced its first round of grant awards for the 2016-2017 season. Grant recipients in 2015 reported that over $134 million was spent by arts organizations and artists in that year in projects funded by the State Arts Council. Over $5 million individuals and visitors participated in grant-funded activities during that year. According to RISCA, state funding for the arts contributes significantly to Rhode Island's economy and quality of life.
Newport Art Museum Introduces New Public Guided Tours

Newport Art Museum to welcome Summer Exhibitions at Opening Reception

Of Water & Bone: New Work by Gayle Wells Mandle and Julia Mandle, This Newport: Photographs by Thomas Palmer, and Still Life Lives: Rhode Island Perspectives will be on view this summer and will be celebrated during an Opening Reception on Friday, June 3, from 5-7pm. RI Artist Mary Dondero Exhibit: "Small Points in Time"

The exhibition draws inspiration from both natural environments and the artist’s individual sense of place. Rather than pin down a simple, observable subject, this exhibition aims to instead capture and abstract the hidden beauty behind the elusive, fleeting feelings and experiences within the “constant state of impermanence in which we live.”
Susan Saarinen to Speak at Newport Art Museum's
Annual Meeting on June 24
NEWPORT, RI (June 10, 2015) - Susan Saarinen will be the guest speaker at the Newport Art Museum's Annual Meeting on Wednesday, June 24 at 5:30 p.m. Saarinen is the principal of Saarinen Landscape Architecture in Golden, Colorado. She is the daughter of architect Eero Saarinen and artist Lilian Louisa Swann Saarinen. She is the granddaughter of architect Eliel Saarinen and artist Louise Saarinen. Her presentation will focus on growing up in a creative environment that celebrates family, art and architecture.
