“Tis the dance of the whole world itself…”
The Newport String Project launches Season Five with Beethoven’s String Quartet in C sharp minor, op. 131
The Newport String Project returns to the Newport Art Museum with a concert that promises to take audiences on a musical
odyssey like no other. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience Beethoven’s astonishing String Quartet in C sharp minor, op. 131 – the Everest of string quartets!
Majestic, daunting and densely-packed with boldly contrasting moods and colors, op. 131 represents the pinnacle of Beethoven’s creative achievement. Like any mountaineering adventure, the piece demands endurance, skill and fortitude, while yielding spectacular rewards along the way. Intrepid Newport String Project directors EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks and Ealaín McMullin will be joined by guest musical “sherpas”, Jesse Holstein on viola and Heath Marlow on cello.
The afternoon will also feature a movement of Schubert’s beloved Cello Quintet to welcome the Newport String Project’s new cellist-in-residence, Jaime Feldman!
Museum Members: $10
Newport String Project Supporters: $30
All tickets include admission to the Museum.
