Calling all Fans of Watercolor! Make a Watercolor Fan!
Beat the heat in style this summer with a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, painted paper fan! Taking inspiration from the New England Watercolor Society’s 2017 Juried Show currently on exhibit at the Museum, Newport Public School teacher and visual artist Mrs. Diane Sheehan will lead a fun watercolor-painted fan-making activity!
Each Second Saturday begins with Guided Close-Looking in the galleries. We’ll visit the New England Watercolor Society exhibition!
Founded in 1885 as the Boston Watercolor Society, the New England Watercolor Society (or “NEWS”) is one of the oldest watercolor societies in America. Its past members include a roster of influential American artists, such as Childe Hassam, John Singer Sargent, and honorary member Andrew Wyeth.
Each Second Saturday activity is free with paid Museum admission.
