Fight the Winter Blues, Exercise your Creativity!

It’s an exciting time at The Coleman Center and we look forward to seeing you in Newport Art Museum’s centennial year!

This winter come in to keep away the chill and the winter blues with the heat of your creative energy. You may want to build your skill in the studio so that when the thaw comes you will be ready to paint and draw en plein air. You may want to try something new, experiment with new approaches, or just see what you can learn from another artist. When the days are short and the cold keeps us indoors, there is no better time for us to play and exercise our creative side.

We have many of the core classes with which we have built a strong reputation (painting, printmaking, ceramics), but we also have a number of new offerings that may appeal to your more adventurous side – retro photography, digital arts, and marquetry, among others.

Register early (up to two weeks before the start of each class) to take advantage of our early bird discounts, 10% off of our regular and member rates, and secure your place. Don’t wait until the week a class begins; class enrollments are reviewed a week before their start date and under-enrolled classes may be cancelled. This will also give us time to send you materials lists and or messages from your instructors.

We try to offer something for everyone, so please take a look at our online listings and speak with a member of our education staff if you would like help in selecting the best class. Thanks to a number of generous individual and corporate sponsors, we also have need-based scholarships (click here for adult scholarship and youth scholarship application forms).

Cheers and best wishes for the New Year,
Shawn Parker, Director of Education
