Share your passion for art by making a gift to the Newport Art Museum

Dear Friend,

The Newport Art Museum is a museum, a school and a National Historic Landmark. But it's so much more in our hearts and minds and in our collective memories. Generation of families have enjoyed belonging to the Museum community and we know that the reasons are as varied as our members.

What if you were asked to count the ways that the Museum matters?

If you know that our Museum is the only museum in Rhode Island focusing on Rhode Island and regional art, then the Museum matters--we know that supporting Rhode Island artists adds value to our economy, so we host 15 exhibitions featuring historic and contemporary art, house a unique permanent collection of Rhode Island and regional art, exhibit more than 600 living artists' work every year and employ 25-30 professional artists.

If you believe that arts education contributes to the health and well-being of our community, then the Museum matters--we offer art instruction to more than 1,700 students at the Museum's Coleman Center for Creative Studies every year and our outreach programs provide critical access to art-making and art appreciation for an additional 1,800 people of all ages and abilities.

If you appreciate a welcoming cultural environment where friends and family can gather, then the Museum matters--our Wet Paint community arts event, PM Picnics, Music in the Galleries and Winter Lecture Series offer opportunities to enrich your knowledge of music, literature, history, politics, and of course, the visual arts.

If you think that historic preservation is important, then the Museum matters--the John N.A. Griswold House and Cushing Gallery are unique examples of stick-style and neo-classical buildings that contribute to the beauty of Newport and its architectural heritage.

We know that the Museum matters in countless ways. We encourage you to count the ways the Museum matters to you and reflect your love for it by making a donation today. Your support will help to ensure that we begin our centennial year with the resources needed to thrive for another century.

Best regards,

Linda McGoldrick

Planned Giving

Providing for the future of the Newport Art Museum & Art Association is one of the most generous ways an individual can support the organization. Your planned gift will help ensure that the Museum can continue to ensure the upkeep of its collections and buildings, while providing educational and outreach programs for the many families, students and visitors who come to the Museum each year.  With your planned gift, you will become part of the Maude Howe Elliot Society, which recognizes those individuals who have disclosed in writing their intention to leave a bequest or make other future gifts in support of the Newport Art Museum & Art Association.

Your planned gift can be mutually beneficial for you and the Newport Art Museum:

  • Life Income Gifts allow you to make a charitable gift now, while still providing for yourself and/or your selected beneficiaries. Examples of Life Income Gifts include charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, charitable lead trusts, or deferred payment gift annuities.

  • Legacy or Estate Gifts enable you to benefit the lives of the people and institutions about which you care. Wills and living trusts can be especially useful for those who cannot currently make large gifts, as well as those who have already made significant gifts. Some estate plans employ trusts, gifts of retirement plan assets, or life insurance proceeds.

  • Other gift considerations may include gifts of currency, securities, works of art, real estate, and other tangible property.

To include the Newport Art Museum in your estate planning, or to include the Museum in your estate planning, please contact 401-848-8200 or e-mail jblake@newportartmuseum.org.
