MUSE is a pioneering high school education program of the Newport Art Museum that promotes interest in museum careers by offering a credited art course for high school youth as a community partner with area schools.

MUSE is supported by a grant from the Institute of Museum & Library Services.

Learning about Museums

We are very proud of the Aquidneck Island high school students who pass through MUSE, our museum studies program each year.

MUSE students visit arts, cultural and historic preservation institutions on field trips and meet with staff and exhibitors who introduce the students to the work that goes on every day at these institutions. The studentsalso curate their own exhibition at the end of each semester which is displayed in the Museum's Griswold House galleries.

The Newport Art Museum's collaborative partnerships with our neighboring institutions has made MUSE a growing success. Learn more about MUSE and view photo galleries from recent MUSE exhibitions here.

Our schedule is shown below.
