Congratulations to Richard (Dick) Hunt, Chair of the Newport Art Museum's Winter Lecture Series Committee and our 2010 Volunteer of the Year. Director of Education Judy Hambleton says, "We are very lucky to have someone like Dick who is so engaged and intellectually lively to spearhead this critical program for the museum. Dick does a phenomenal job and he's very supportive." Dick says he likes to stay open and flexible when he and fellow WLS Committee members are tossing around suggestions for speakers. "It's one way to keep everyone engaged in the process. "I see my work on the committee as an extension of what the Museum is all about: bringing knowledge to people and enlightening minds." Thank you, Dick, for your support and wholehearted embrace of the Museum's mission! Artful Elders enrichment programWe were lucky enough to have Ms. Noelle King O'Connor come to our facility yesterday to present a slide show and discussion about art. We consider any activity to be a success that has had ten percent of the population attend (and) this program far exceeded that. It was the most successful program that we have had here in a very long time. Barbara Ellis-Voltas Support from the Newport County Fund of the Rhode Island Foundation made our Artful Elders programming possible over the last year for these local centers for the elderly: Blenheim, Village House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Edward King House, Donovan Manor, Forest Farm Health Assisted Living, John Clarke Retirement Center and the Grand Islander Center.
