The Age of Deliverance, Nested, Rested and Resurrected , 2007

Metamorphoses, Ovid’s Classical masterpiece about the creation and history of the world, has inspired Rene Stawicki’s imagination for years. Stawicki blended her own sense of imagery with Ovid’s words to create the dramatic allegorical images In this new exhibition.

Ovid’s tales involve renewal through change. Stawicki says, “The scenes I have chosen to show are sparked by either a physical affront or a desperate cry for deliverance from suffering. The humans involved are set free from their anguish by the intervention of powerful deities or through the force of their own will.”
