Roderick O'Hanley, President of the Board of Trustees, has recently announced Elizabeth A Goddard's official appointment as Executive Director of the Newport Art Museum.
"Lisa's strengths as a visionary and creative problem solver helped the Museum over some very difficult transitions in 2008 even as she and her team carried out all the planned exhibitions, programs and educational opportunities. Lisa has been able to build morale and inspire confidence within the Museum. Speaking for the Board, we are confident that under Lisa's leadership and with the support of our dedicated staff, the Museum is poised for active engagement with the community as we build a strong future for the Museum's second century," Rod commented.
Lisa is well-regarded as a leader, committed volunteer, artist, benefactor and an individual of integrity. She is deeply rooted in this community and in Rhode Island and has been serving in an interim capacity at the Museum since January 2008.
After the announcement Lisa said, "The Newport Art Museum is a precious arts and culture resource not only for this community but for the entire State of Rhode Island. I am honored and thrilled to be given the opportunity to steward this splendid institution into the future. Just as Maud Howe Elliot 'carried the torch' for arts and culture in its first century, I am committed to working closely with all our Museum family to fuel the flame that will light our way into its second."
