The “Newport Annual Members’ Juried Exhibition” returns in February, so Members get ready to submit your best work! This is the largest, most comprehensive exhibition of regional contemporary art in the state and the Newport Art Museum is proud to play host. Every year we receive hundreds of entries from artists in a multitude of media including painting, watercolor, prints, drawings, pastels, three-dimensional, photography, video and mixed media. We invite recognized experts from the world of art to determine which works will make it into the show. This year, Monica Ramirez-Montagut, Curator of The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, Connecticut, will make those difficult decisions and award prizes in multiple categories. Ramirez-Montagut was formerly the Assistant Curator of Architecture and Design at The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. Museum Curator Nancy Whipple Grinnell will present the Newport Art Museum Award. Artists may submit one ready-to-hang or ready-to-install work, which must have been completed over the last year, but not exhibited previously at the Newport Art Museum. Remember, you must be a current member of the Museum. (We’ll accept membership dues at the time your work is delivered.) See our Newport Annual page for more details. Join us on Friday, February 5 for a Members’ Preview Reception from 5 – 7 pm. Good luck! We'd love to hear from you Please send your feedback about Art Matters to Gayle Hargreaves, Editor. news@NewportArtMuseum.org.
